Section 508 requires that electronic and information technology that is developed or purchased by the Federal Government is accessible by people with disabilities. Beginning in June of 2001, all government Web sites must conform to these standards. Any contractor doing Web development for the Federal government must conform to these standards. Using this web site, Federal employees and the public can access resources for understanding and implementing the requirements of Section 508. What is the W3C?
