Building a better web site ... Questy's, Creating Graphics |
|
Create them yourself. MS Paint comes with Windows, use it to draw simple pictures. A sample or limited edition of Corel Photo Paint comes packaged with many scanners, (I know many of the HP scanners include it.) Corel WEB.PhotoPaint comes with the Corel Web Master Suite. On the page that follows are also links to Lview and ULEAD. Lview makes some relatively inexpensive, easy to use programs that you can use to edit images. ULEAD makes an inexpensive, easy to use GIF animator that is a must have for making your own banners for web pages. Acquire them through scanning. If you love to draw or paint using traditional methods, such as paper, pencil, and paint, create them non-digitally and use a desktop scanner to transform them to digital images. Likewise, use a good 35mm camera to take photos and scan them. Having tinkered in photography for many years, I still think that digital cameras have a ways to go. Yes, they are quick and convenient, but the color depth and resolution is far from 35mm standards.(And for the price of a digital camera I can get a pretty nice scanner and some graphics software!) Capture images from your desktop. Programs like Lview pro or Microsoft Photo Editor allow you to do a screen capture of your PC's desktop. Purchase or borrow from clip art libraries. Check out the links that follow for some of my favorite sites to send folks to gather clip art. |
